As the last year’s edition of the festival was a gift for the children of Sofia, now the event will be for literally everyone, with an emphasis on the city man who wants and immerses himself in the atmosphere of mystery called “contemporary circus art”, to learn its mechanisms, to understand its messages, to experience its emotion.
Despite the objective challenges of all kinds – health, social, financial, etc., Mini Art Fest 10 invites you not just to share the idea of contemporary circus, but to celebrate it live!
Mini Art Fest 10 is part of the calendar of cultural events of Sofia Municipality for 2020.
The festival is organized with the support of Sofia Municipality – Program Europe,
The French Institute in Sofia, The French Embassy in Sofia, Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia, Teatroskop – regional program for contemporary performing arts and Circus Ivanov.
Over the years, the Bulgarian audience has had really rare opportunities to get in touch with contemporary circus and this has usually been in the context of contemporary theater and dance festivals/events.
Now, however, Mini Art will take care of this again, and the audience will be able to peek symbolically, but also in essence, in the circus courtyards of France and Italy with touring international artists who are part of the cream of the world contemporary circus.
The festival begins on Friday, October 2, with the performance “Freaks” by the French artist Paul Keaton, based on movements, manipulation of objects and magic.
Photographic exhibition of eccentric costumes and a corresponding performance
“Clothes for Transcendence”. The futuristic and even post-apocalyptic and post-punk concept belongs to the British artist Nicholas MacArthur, and the photos – to the Bulgarian Photographer Geo Kalev. We will experience the style and aesthetics of the abandoned and lonely, inhabiting abandoned factories, swampy viaducts and marginal landfills. The photos will be on view throughout the festival.
On Saturday we will watch 2 performances – Bulgarian and Italian.
First, the native name the artist Ashton Ka will present the attraction of the living statue, and in the evening the Italian company Duo Masawa – Hand-to-Hand acrobats will impress the audience with their show “V.O.G.O.T”, which is based on the sensory connection between man and woman as a challenge, adventure and wealth of human communication.
On Sunday night, the culmination of Mini Art Fest 10 with the highlight in the program is the performance “Unstable” by “Les Hommes Penches” from France, which problematizes the vulnerable life of the artist and poet, self-building in the surrounding prosaic world. Currently, the show is touring the Balkans, and one of its stops is Bulgaria and Mini Art Fest.
Of course, on the last night the prize of the festival – Golden Ant will be awarded.
There will also be an accompanying diverse music program with concerts by
The band The Bedlam Club, improviser from “Create Me” by Konstantin Kuchev,
The singer Mihaela Mártin, The musician, producer, composer Ivan Shopov with his new music project -TRIGAIDA and DJ Africando.
We will enjoy drinks and culinary specialties over the whole weekend
from Burgers on the Road and Lolly – Sweet Bar Caravan.
