We are Aleksandar Georgiev, (MK/BG) and Darío Barreto Damas, (SP); two artists with a choreography and performance background. We are based in Sofia (BG), operating in other scenes such as Skopje (MK), Stockholm (SE), and Tenerife (SP). As a working sphere we do not pursuit one identity, maintaining our individualities, being connected thanks to common interests around the dance field.
We work around choreographic systems that facilitate artistic diversity and equity. Not to see deviations and disagreements as a problem to be artistically demonstrated or solved but something to be promoted and celebrated. Working on co-existence we want to highlight what constitutes a partnership that doesn’t demand the normalization of abilities but run on the logic of versatile possibilities.
MOONLIGHT, work in progress:
MOONLIGHT is a choreographic project that focuses on poetic structures, a staged exploration of boundless meanings, a malleable queer reality. Working within it we want to cultivate a stage micro-culture where statuses, labels and understandings grow or ingrown into something(s) else.
I think you think I think about you when you think I think you think about me, and that’s so cool. And sometimes, I think I think you think about me while you think you think I think about you. Even that it’s so fucking cool.
MOONLIGHT is a moon and it has light and it is a practice. It is pattern and, surely, does not repeat itself. It is structural, and Post Structuralism for the ones who want it; Aurora and Snow White are part of it.
MOONLIGHT is a project born out of togetherness and time spent close to each other. We are interested in co-authorship within family constellations, building intuitive material, growing reciprocal manners to motivate each other. Moonlight as a summary of conversation s between Ace and Darío.
We would like to share with you the shape that MOONLIGHT has taken for now.
MOONLIGHT will be premiered in the fall 2018 supported by KINOKULTURA, space for contemporary performing art and contemporary culture, and Ministry of Culture of Macedonia.
